2 Nights Camel Trek in Merzouga DesertItinerary
Day 1: Merzouga – Camel Trek – Desert Camp
Your desert adventure begins in the late afternoon as you arrive in Merzouga, you’ll leave your car safely at the hotel before meeting your local guide. From there, your unforgettable journey into the Moroccan Sahara begins with a camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. As the sun sets, you’ll pause to take in the breathtaking colors that sweep across the sky. After sunset, continue to your desert camp, where you’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea.
Later, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars, accompanied by live Berber music and drumming around the campfire. As the night deepens, lie back and marvel at the vast, star-filled sky before retreating to your comfortable, authentic desert tent for a restful sleep.
Day 2: A full day to discover Merzouga Sahara Desert.
After breakfast, begin your exploration of the Merzouga Desert. Take a 4×4 adventure across the vast dunes, meet Berber nomads, and learn about their traditional way of life. If seasonal waters are present, visit the nearby lake. Next, explore Mefis, an abandoned village with remnants of colonial-era lead and mineral mines.
Continue to Khamlia Village, inhabited by residents of Malian descent, where you can relax over traditional tea and enjoy an authentic Gnawa music performance. Cross the dunes in a 4×4, stopping at scenic viewpoints to take photos. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, return to the camp by 4×4 and enjoy a relaxing evening with dinner and traditional Berber music under the stars. Spend the night at the camp, and in the morning, enjoy breakfast, take a shower, before heading back to the meeting point.
Day 3: Desert Camp - Sunrise - Camel Ride - Merzouga.
Wake up early to see one final sunrise over the dunes, a peaceful way to end your desert journey. After breakfast at the camp, ride your camel back to Merzouga village. and finish your adventure with great memories.
